Inspect before we quote

See the problem before you pay to fix it

A leak inside rarely sits directly under its cause. We inspect the roof, photograph what we find and explain whether a targeted repair will do or whether the covering is near the end of its life, so you can make the decision with the facts in front of you.

  • Photo report with every inspection

FAQ

Roofing FAQs

What homeowners ask us about their roofs.

How do I know if my roof needs replacing?

Signs include widespread slipped or cracked slates, repeated leaks in different places, sagging, nail fatigue and a perished membrane visible from the loft. We'll inspect and show you photos before recommending anything.

Do I need planning permission to re-roof?

Usually not, if you're replacing like-for-like. In conservation areas or under an Article 4 direction, changing materials may need consent, and listed buildings need listed building consent.

Does re-roofing need Building Regulations approval?

Replacing more than a quarter of a roof's covering generally triggers Building Regulations requirements, which can include upgrading insulation. We'll advise on what applies to your roof.

Which flat roof is best: EPDM, GRP or felt?

EPDM rubber is flexible and suits simple shapes; GRP fibreglass is rigid and good for walk-on or detailed roofs; modern torch-on felt is a proven, economical option. Each has its place, and we'll recommend one for your roof.

Can you repair a leaking roof in bad weather?

We can often make a temporary repair to stop water getting in, then complete a permanent repair when conditions are safe.

Do I need scaffolding?

Most roof work needs scaffolding or an access tower for safety. The quote will show access costs separately.

Do you repair chimneys?

Yes. We repoint stacks, renew flaunching and flashings, replace pots and can remove redundant chimneys where appropriate.

How long does a re-roof take?

A typical terraced house re-roof often takes one to two weeks on site, weather permitting, once scaffolding is up.

Is roofing work insured?

Yes. We're fully insured across all aspects of roofing and building work.
